"Clearing Clutter"

Funny how much one can accumulate when given space. But eventually all good things come to an end and you run out of space.....This week Mike & I started clearing out some of the clutter. Sounds easy, but when everything has a meaning attached to it, not so easy. So I started making piles:

  • Stuff that really needs to be thrown out, can't give it away, can't will it away, it needs to go!
  • Stuff that is in limbo, clutter purgatory, caught between my house and somewhere else. Where that is, is anyone's guess.
  • Stuff that has too much meaning and still needs to go, these items will be thoughtfully donated.
  • Stuff that is going to stay but still doesn't have a home (shelf, wall space, space period) and temporarily residing in the too numerous to mention "tote boxes".

I managed to start these wonderful piles as a result of buying a $10.00 book at Barnes & Noble. Now the name of the book is "Clearing Clutter". Mike was ever so pleased that I had to buy a book to tell me what he has been telling me for months! Needless to say it was worth it. Clearing clutter is afterall a work in progress. Ask Mike, "ET" (Mike's stuffed animal) still resides in the guest room. Remember everything has meaning:)

On the adoption front, still waiting for New York State Child Abuse Clearance. This is the fourth week and the social worker said thats about how long it takes. I was impatient and called last week, and as I am still impatient, I will be calling her again this week.

Thanks to all for the good thoughts and best wishes in regards to our blog. Wishing all of you a Thanksgiving full of love, family, and of course turkey!

Sooo, was any of this clutter Mike's? Sounds like the only thing of his in the room was E.T. and of course that remains. Hold on to the memories not necessarily the objects. Eagerly awaiting progress on the adoption process.
