We remember...

I will never forget where I was or what I was doing, what followed, that day and even weeks, months later. One day touched me in ways I never thought possible. I hurt in ways I never thought I could and yet we live..to live..for those who gave their lives for us..our heroes..we live for them.

I remember being given a small picture which a child of a fallen officer made. The drawing illustrated her dad helping others and God helping her dad. How my heart ached for her. I still have that drawing.

I have not forgotten the good. The goodness, kind words, comfort so many offered to not only me but to all of us working. Whether we worked at the pier, the site, in Brooklyn, or on patrol we felt it.

But today I remember the sadness.

I remember the sadness and we should all remember it.

Never forget.
