Walking for Lauren Update

Wow! Who would have thought that when this started there would be so many walkers! Fifteen walkers in total! All Walking to support my friend Lauren. Lauren was recently diagnosed with Lupus. She is an amazing woman and the mother of three girls, ages 5, 3, & 2, who were born in China. Whats even more wonderful? My sister Donna, nieces Elise and Alyssa, and sister in-law, Jenniffer, will be walking right alongside me on Mother's Day, May 13th. Our team "Families with Children from China- LongIsland" has raised $ 950.00 in less than two weeks!

Awesome!

Thank you's to my sister Jill and friends Jennifer, Karen, and Rosemarie for sponsoring me.

Since education is so important. Here are some facts on Lupus:

Facts About Lupus

* Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, or lupus) is a chronic, potentially devastating autoimmune disease in which the immune system turns against the body's own cells and tissues, causing inflammation and tissue damage.

* Lupus can affect many parts of the body, including the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, and brain.

* Lupus affects people of all ages, including children, but it most often strikes people when they are between the ages of 15 and 45. Nine out of ten people with lupus are women.

* Lupus is three times more common among African American women than among Caucasian women, and is also more
common in women of Hispanic, Asian, and Native American descent.

Join the Cause!

Join me in the fight against lupus by making a pledge on my behalf, or becoming a member of my team and walking alongside me.

100% of the proceeds from the Walk will go to lupus research. Click on Lauren's link located under the Links Column and help us to find a cure for Lauren and all who face this disease!

Thanks
