China: People, Place, Culture, History
by DK Publishing
This week I was very busy and yet I can't remember why it was busy or what I did that really stuck out. I know that the Weather on Friday really stunk! It forced me to miss my Mom's night out with my local FCC. The highway entrance ramp was closed and it was just too far to travel to any other way. It didn't help that I got out of work during the brunt of the storm! The only thing I could think of that stood out was my trip to the bookstore. I purchased a book on China that is so amazing. It was published this year and contains information on the landscape, history, people, culture, and architecture of China. I haven't had nearly enough time to browse thru it. I am actually looking forward to some down-time.
What happened this week?
Well, I have been watching the Cleveland/Boston ALCS Series. I'm pulling for the young inexperienced Indians. I know, yes, I am a NY Yankee fan but that is not why I want Boston to lose, well not completely why anyway. I think it will make an interesting series to see the Cleveland Indians play the Colorado Rookies. All this baseball is tiring when the games start just when you should be going to sleep!
I was also saddened by the loss of Joe Torre as the NY Yankee manager. He did a great job but like all good things his time as manager was up. Whoever gets the position will have a hard time filling his shoes. I wonder who will make the cut. Donnie Baseball? Tony Pena? Joe Girardi?
I have also been experimenting with my Crock pot. What fun! and TASTY too! Working late has forced me to be more creative with our dinner meals. I am trying to master the one pot or one dish meal. I think I have done a pretty decent job. Mike isn't complaining :) The beauty of the Crock Pot is how much you can get done while your meal cooks. Today I made split pea soup and I plan on eating it for lunch this week! Woohoo!
I also purchased a Casserole Cookbook with over 440 recipes. Now I know why I have no TIME! I made two dishes tonight. The first was a Cheesy Corn Casserole and the second was Farmhouse Chicken. It passed the husband and mother in-law test and will join our dinner table again someday.
This week I will be focusing on PATIENCE with my class. I find that little ones do not hear you even when they do hear you. Because they are so young it is hard to expect them to listen especially when not listening is so much more fun! We''ll see what the week holds.
Rumors are starting for the next referral batch. December is supposed to be a smaller month so I am hoping that they get further than the last batch of FIVE days. The rumor circulating is that the CCAA will get to December 10th. I hope it is further than that. A girl can hope can't she?

"Hope is the thing with feathers.... I tried to apply Dickinson's metaphor to our adoption wait, but I got lost in the metaphor instead. LOL! All I know is that hoping for more referrals makes life a little more pleasant, even if it always seems on the distant horizon. I'd much rather be hope-ful than hope-less! :)
